When it rains it pours.
And Monday was an indication of would you should see for weeks to come.
“Showers and storms will continue each afternoon this week, into next week and the next week as well,” Channel 2 Action News Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns.
Heavy downpours first entered the metro area about noon , sweeping through Cobb, Douglas, Fulton and Paulding counties, according to Channel 2. More storms hit north Fulton and Gwinnett counties about 3:30 p.m.
Showers could bring lightning, small hail and gusty winds, Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.
There is a silver lining, however.
“When those rain showers come up, it cools you down for the moment,” Minton said. “But then the humidity starts to go back up because of the rain showers in the area.”
Currently, the temperature is 76 degrees in Atlanta, well below the average high of 89 for this time of year.
Temps are expected to remain in the high 80s this week, with lows in the mid 70s.
Expect a 40 percent chance of rain Tuesday with a forecast high of 88 degrees.
