The text came just seconds before the tornado exploded into the house where Jeffrey Hunter was hiding in a bathroom.

It simply said, "Goodbye mama."

Jeff had been staying with his father and stepmother in Vilonia, Arkansas as the storm developed.

His mother, Regina Wood, had been texting updates, and both knew the twister was headed directly for him.

"First he said mama, I'm so scared," Regina told KNWA.

“He knew how bad it was,” she continued.

“I kept saying ‘are you ok, are you ok?’ and there was no answer,” Regina said, unable to hold back the tears.

When the storm had passed Jeff’s body was found by a neighbor. He was one of 15 people killed as the tornado ripped through the small town.

Through her grief, Regina said Jeffrey using his final moment to say good-bye was “the most precious thing a son could do for a mother.”
