However, what’s moving into Atlanta is traffic congestion, but that really hasn’t been a new thing today.
A car fire on I-85 South at the Ga. 400 ramp previously had two right lanes blocked, and delays still linger, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

A left I-285 South lane in DeKalb County is blocked near the I-20 East ramp because of a crash, the Traffic Center reported.

This comes after crews earlier worked to put out a fire in a MARTA battery room, closing down a major Fulton County roadway in the process. Authorities shut down DeKalb Avenue at Gordon Avenue in both directions, near the Edgewood-Candler Park and East Lake stations, but it has since reopened.

MARTA service was not affected, according to officials with the transit agency.

Things are better in Henry County after hours of road closures and delays Friday morning.
A driver in a small sedan entered the I-75 express lanes going the wrong way just after 6:15 a.m., crashing head-on into a northbound vehicle. That vehicle was then rear-ended by a third vehicle going north.

The wreck shut down the express lanes and closed lanes in both directions on I-75. It was cleared about 11 a.m., but the Georgia Department of Transportation is still making repairs to the damaged gates. GDOT reopened the system northbound just before noon.

Cool air is still in place to work with moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Willa, fueling showers. Much of North Georgia is also experiencing some breezy conditions.
“A front will approach later tonight that will help to break down this wedge of cooler air so we will get out of this, eventually,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said. “For today, even though the rain really tapers off by late afternoon, we still could see some patchy, light rain or drizzle off and on.”
Even when the rain moves out, North Georgia can expect overcast conditions and some low-hanging clouds to stick around through early Saturday morning.
Still cool tomorrow but temperatures will start warming back up toward (and likely above) 70 degrees into next early next week!

Next shot of cooler air looks to get here later next week. @BradNitzWSB is updating the forecast again at noon on Channel 2.
The skies should gradually clear Saturday before a mostly sunny Sunday with highs nearing 70 degrees, according to the latest forecast from Channel 2.
“Lots of dry conditions ... Monday, Tuesday, even Wednesday, but rain comes in by Thursday next week,” Minton said.
