Although the heaviest showers have moved on, steady rains have caused the National Weather Service to extend flood warnings across north Georgia.

Affected areas include the Big Creek near Alpharetta, where minor flooding is already occurring. The river will continue rising more than a foot above flood stage, according to the weather service. Fulton County will remain under a flood warning through Sunday evening.

Yellow River near Conyers, Whitewater Creek in Fayette County and the Oconee River outside of Athens are also under alert.

The wet weather forced the cancellation Saturday morning of the annual Veteran’s Day parade through downtown Atlanta. Organizers said there are no plans to reschedule.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said intermittent rain will continue throughout the day, with highs pushing 70 degrees.

The warm weather won’t last on Sunday, but the rain will. Monahan forecasts another dreary, damp day, with a 60 percent chance of showers and a highs in the mid-50s. Monday looks to be a carbon copy, with chilly temperatures in the low-50s and more rain expected.

Milder temperatures and even some sunshine are forecast for Tuesday, with highs back in the mid-60s.
