Sunday’s crisp start, with chilly winds and temperatures in the 30s and 40s quickly dissipated in the afternoon sun.

“Clear and cold for a lot of us getting off to our coldest start since the springtime; since the early part of April,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said Sunday morning.

By noon, the sun came expected out in full force warming the metro area and climbing toward above-average temperatures for the day, Monahan said.

Temperatures were 75 degrees in Atlanta, 69 degrees in Blairsville and 75 degrees in Griffin at 5:00 p.m.

The high Sunday is 77 degrees.

A cold front is expected to come through Monday, but the metro area should stay mostly dry, Monahan said.
