Metro Atlanta

Crisp, cool evening weather

October 11, 2016 Forest Park: Steve Burnett from Three Peas in a Pod Produce in Loganville was looking for good pumpkins to buy for his business on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 at the Atlanta State Farmers Market at 16 Forest Parkway in Forest Park. Burnett had plenty to choose from as he was shopping at Hammonds Produce who will be selling an estimated 14,400 pumpkins from their Michigan farm at the market. Owner and farmer Keith Hammonds said before October 31st gets here there will have been 100 trailer loads shipped to Georgia at the market. If by the pumpkins you could tell it’s fall then the recent temperatures will – they were 5 degrees lower Tuesday than they were Monday morning in metro Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News. Enjoy the brisk October days.

We’ve got dry, cool air Tuesday evening in a sky without many clouds, Channel 2 Action News Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

“Clear, cool mornings and sunny afternoons,” Burns said are expected this week.

Tuesday started out at 51 degrees and never made it to the expected high of 76 degrees, instead hitting 74 about 5 p.m. and falling to 73 degrees by 6:30 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the 70s Wednesday, according to Channel 2.

“Our only problem is we’re in a huge drought, and we can’t get any rain going,” meteorologist Karen Minton said. “And we’re not going to this week either.”

Temperatures were 65 degrees in Atlanta, 58 in Blairsville and 52 in Griffin just before 9:30 p.m.

Metro Atlanta could wake up to lows in the 50s through Saturday, Channel 2 reported. And temperatures are expected to reach a high of 76 degrees Wednesday before increasing to the low 80s Thursday and Friday.

“The weekend’s looking great with partly cloudy skies and mid-70s,” Minton said.
