Brief flurries possible early Friday in northern mountains
The north Georgia mountains could see brief flurries early Friday through 9 a.m., but the area won’t see piles of snow, according to Channel 2 Action News.
“I don’t expect any accumulation with this,” meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
Weather conditions should dry up after those early morning hours and continue through the end of the week and into the weekend.
It’s another story by Monday.
Nitz said expect widespread freezing rain and snow in the north Georgia mountains. This could impact metro Atlanta too, with a 60 percent chance of winter precipitation expected Monday.
Temperatures were 48 degrees in Atlanta, 38 degrees in Blairsville and 49 degrees in Griffin just before 1:30 p.m.
Temps are expected to dip some Thursday evening, but not below freezing, Channel 2 meteorologists said.
Weather conditions will be similar Friday, with a high of 53 degrees and a low of 34 degrees expected.
Then, temperatures will slowly start to chill, dropping back into the 20s Sunday.
