Atlanta weather | Sunny, but breezy weekend
Warm weather and occasional winds are expected this weekend, following a cold front that brought showers to metro Atlanta.
“Our Friday the 13th turned out to be pretty lucky,” Channel 2 meteorologist Glenn Burns said. “The cold front that moved in last night didn’t linger. It moved on out leaving in its wake a beautiful, blue sky.”
Light winds continued through Friday, with gusts reaching 21 mph. A cool night is expected with lows reaching the 50s tonight, Burns said.
The high was 79 degrees in Atlanta.
Temperatures were 77 degrees in Atlanta, 70 degrees in Blairsville and 77 degrees in Griffin just before 7:30 p.m.
Expect light winds and lows in the 50s early Saturday, then highs in the 80s later in the day.
A cold front should arrive in metro Atlanta by 4 p.m. Saturday, meaning a chilly start Sunday with temperatures in the upper 50s, Burns said.
Don’t worry. Temperatures won’t stay there.
Sunday’s expected high is 72 degrees.
