Expect more clouds and patchy fog Tuesday and a downpour Wednesday, Channel 2 Action News meteorologists said Monday.

Warm weather won’t come to an end until Friday, when temperatures are expected to drop into the 30s.

In the meantime, forecasts showed highs that will reach 70 degrees Tuesday and 65 degrees Wednesday, meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Temperatures were 63 degrees in Atlanta, Blairsville and Griffin just after 2 p.m., with cloudy skies expected to stay until about 9 p.m.

Those same clouds will join periods of patchy fog Tuesday.

Metro Atlanta will stay mostly dry Tuesday, with only scattered showers during daytime hours.

“The best chance for rain comes in early Wednesday,” Nitz said.

Showers and thunderstorms likely won’t clear until late in the day.

Meteorologist Karen Minton said northwest Georgia will be hardest hit, with potential severe storm risks early Wednesday.

However, temperatures are expected to stay above 60 degrees through the downpour Wednesday.
