Atlanta weather | 80-degree days through Wednesday, rain on Thursday

While Houston streets flooded after getting more than a foot of rain, metro Atlanta was warm and dry Monday.
High pressure was keeping the wet weather at bay locally until later this week.
“This system that’s caused a lot of trouble out in Texas will be gradually working its way toward us,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said. “However, it won’t have the same impact here as it’s had there.”
Early forecasts showed a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday and Friday.
But on Monday, skies were clear, humidity levels were falling and temperatures were climbing.
Temps were 75 degrees in Atlanta, 75 degrees in Blairsville and 72 degrees in Griffin just before 2 p.m. The metro area may hit a high of 79 degrees by 4 p.m.
“And we’re going to continue this warmer than average weather for the next couple days,” when temperatures are expected to reach the 80s Tuesday and Wednesday, Minton said.
Monday was not a good day to burn leaves or anything else.
“With that dry air there, especially these counties just right along the state line of South Carolina, [expect] high fire danger there,” Minton said. “And we have dangerous fire conditions here.”
The pollen count, which started dropping this week, dropped to 267 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air Monday. That was well below the current season high of 4,107 and last year's season high of 6,152.
