Universal Orlando has announced the ninth of its 10 haunted-house mazes to be featured in the upcoming 2018 edition of Halloween Horror Nights. The latest to be revealed is called Horrors of Blumhouse and will features scenes from the films “Happy Death Day” (2017) and “The First Purge” (2018).
The attraction will feature the Babyface Killer character as well as the “nation’s very first wave of Purgers,” according to a post on the official Universal Orlando blog.
The event at the Universal Studios theme park also will feature mazes based on “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers,” “Poltergeist,” the Netflix series “Stranger Things” and the 2007 horror film “Trick ‘r Treat.” Universal also is creating original houses named Carnival Graveyard, Slaughter Sinema, Seeds of Extinction and Dead Exposure: Patient Zero.
This penultimate piece leaves one mysterious house announcement to be made in advance of the event’s kickoff evening on Sept. 14. This year’s HHN, the 28th in the resort’s history, will have a record number of haunts, breaking double digits for the first time.
The event also will include five scare zones and an all-new dance-acrobatic-theatrical show from the returning Academy of Villains called “Cyberpunk.”
Halloween Horror Nights is an after-hours, extra-ticket event that operates on select evenings between Sept. 14 and Nov. 4.
