R&B's in the air at the Parkers' place

The family room is where the Parkers like to kick back and watch television. They bought the sectional and had it recovered in the mocha brown material. Sharlinda Parker favors reupholstering, especially with kids.

Q. Parker shines his stunning Brazilian cherry wood floors twice a week using a damp cloth and knee pads.

The kitchen flows into the tan and gray breakfast area. "We love earth tones, colors like olive, brown and orange," Sharlinda Parker says. The area also morphs into the sunroom -- or their "son's room" as it's also known. Quinnes Jr. loves to flop down on the couch after a hard day at preschool and watch "Sponge Bob Square Pants."

This room, done in cream and chocolate tones, also serves as an office. Sharlinda and Quinnes like the musical art, but it's a heavy piece that was tricky to hang.

The master suite includes a lounge area to watch television and a king-sized poster bed. The black-and-white drawing was created for the Parkers by a friend. Sharlinda is an identical twin, and the original picture was of her and her twin sister. In this version, Sharlinda's twin was taken out and a picture of Q. taken around the same age was added.

The piano room flows into a deep red dining room that Q. Parker struggled to paint. He finally used a primer before reapplying the bold red color. Sharlinda Parker also displays her Tiffany cabinet in the room.

The piano room is one of the first rooms guests see when they enter the Parker home.

The Parkers' friends hang out in the theater room with an HD projector and a 92-inch screen. Q. Parker and his daughter went crazy decorating the ceiling with stars. Sharlinda made the cornice board to hang the black velvet curtains. Off the media room is a stocked bar with refrigerator and microwave.

Sharlinda built the toy chests in her son's room to contain the clutter.

Quinnes Jr. adores his Thomas the Train bed and all things trains.

Q.'s framed, autographed jerseys line the stairs to the basement. Some are from friends and some are from clients of his wife's Buckhead nail salon, Tu La 2.

The master bath is sponge-painted mocha with pinks and golds. Sharlinda, who made the window treatments, also runs an interior decorating business.

An avid sports fan, Q. ran track and played basketball in high school. "I'm in awe of them," he says as he walks around his basement like a proud papa.

The basement also contains a full bath with double showers and lockers for friends to use after playing ball in the backyard.

The pool room in the basement is brimming with Alabama memorabilia. Q.'s parents hail from Birmingham and his stepdaughter, Kahdijiha Rowe, is a senior at the university.

The Parkers' love for entertaining continues outside. The backyard includes a swimming pool, waterfall, hot tub and basketball court. On the other side of the pool is an elevated deck/DJ booth with flowing white curtains.

The basketball court offers a softer surface to cushion not-so-young knees.

The Parkers have lived in their south Cobb County neighborhood for about five years.
