The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is in a restored 1903 power plant on Jekyll Island. The center provides care for sick and injured sea turtles.

Dylan is one of them. He's used to being fed dead fish at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, not blue crabs. When they're alive he seems "spooked, " say his new caretakers on Jekyll Island. So they started him off with dead ones.

Jeannie Miller slips a vitamin into the dead herrings that Dylan is fed four days a week. Miller is spending lots of time with Dylan, trying to help him get used to crabs and other prey that he will have to hunt in the sea.

When Dylan ate this live horseshoe crab, it was considered a very good sign by those helping him prepare for a return to the sea.

The main gallery at the sea turtle center has lots of fun look-and-learn lessons about loggerheads.

The center is located in the Jekyll Island Club National Historic Landmark District.

A group of elementary students head to the south beach for 4-H environmental education. The South end of the Island is home to the 4-H center, a soccer complex and wonderful wildlife.

Jekyll Island has much more than sea turtles. A renovated hotel in the historic district is among the tourist attractions.

Developers want to put more structures on the island in the form of hotels and housing, but locals want to balance the island's beauty against its lagging financial situation.

Undeveloped marshes are part of Jekyll Island's natural beauty.
