Huff Furniture style spills into family home

Julie and Jimmy Huff's Buckhead home is filled with furniture you might expect to see in the showroom of Huff Furniture, but they've added refined twists to the theme in the five-bedroom, four-bath home. See photos of this home.

The interior of this home, owned by modern furniture entrepreneurs Julie and Jimmy Huff, originally had a Mediterranean style. The Huffs, best known for the furniture store that bears their name, added a modern touch.

Visitors walk into an entryway that flows into the family room. The Huffs opted not to have a formal living room.

The family room is where the Huffs spend most of their time. Julie Huff plans to change out the red rug for fresh inspiration.

The Huff children -- Peyton, 11; Emily, 10; and Jenna, 3 -- made colorful paintings of hearts on canvas as a Father's Day gift for Dad.

"Fire On Ice," tempered glass designed not to burn, is a product the Huffs use and sell. The glass pieces replace gas logs in the fireplace.

This is the family's favorite space for sharing quality time. The island needed to be big enough to serve double duty as a homework center. The couple completely gutted and renovated the kitchen in a straight line deco-style. They used a similar metallic overcoat on the cabinets. "It takes the flatness out and gives it a little life," Julie Huff said.

The breakfast nook includes views of the Huff's backyard. They graded and leveled the backyard to add more usable space for the kids.

The bar is Jimmy Huff's favorite room and his brainchild. He added a stair-step effect with the art-deco molding. Metal laminate cabinets and granite counters complete the look.

Daughter Emily's room is a study in pop-candy fun with orange, pink and green accents.

The dining room features a Huff Furniture piece that gives the illusion of multiple small tables.

This is Emily's work space. Apparently, the entrepreneurial gene runs deep: The kids' TV/lounge room (not shown) is now an office for Pop Rocks Jewels, a jewelry company created by Emily and her brother, Peyton.

Son Peyton's room is dynamic blue and brown.

The archways in the upstairs hallway add visual interest and an open feel to the home.

This is the master suite. The rooms upstairs have a soft contemporary feel, thanks to Julie Huff. "Jimmy gets the first floor. He's a bit more contemporary than me," she said. "I like the curves." She did have another beautiful artwork hanging in the bedroom until she discovered it would look better in the home of a client. "... So many of our clients want everything now."

The master bath includes a wall-mounted television (not shown,) one of Julie Huff's favorite features.

The family enjoys a regular movie night in the basement area. They sit down with their home movies and popcorn and take a trip down memory lane. The basement also boasts a mini kitchen.

This powder room vanity was originally an occasional table that Julie Huff knew would make a perfect sink one day.

This guest suite has a cool, cozy bed that might encourage a guest to stay too long. All of the art in their home is sold at Huff. "(Checo) Diego is my favorite piece in the guest room," Julie Huff said of the artwork hanging over the bed.

The brightly colored deck furniture contrasts with the home's neutral color scheme.

They love living so close to everything. "We bought it because we wanted a good school district," she added, noting that they also have access to a neighborhood swimming pool and tennis courts. "We've got as good as suburban living."
