A landmark hotel in Fort Lauderdale, the Sheraton Yankee Clipper, reopened earlier this year following a massive top-to-bottom renovation -- and a name change.
The Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel expanded guest amenities along the beach with new cabanas, a Mexican-themed beach bar and an infinity pool.
This modern oceanfront hotel has a unique lounge and dining option. The Wreck Bar features portholes which makes patrons feel as if they're sitting on the ocean floor. To add to the effect, a free live mermaid show is held at the perfect day and hour -- every Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Wreck Bar was a feature in the 1960's film "Where the Boys Are," starring Connie Francis.
The other attraction is the Clipper Diner with its menu of modern American comfort food and a soda fountain that serves up the classic banana split.
A "Grand Opening" rate from $159 per night includes a deluxe ocean view room with new Sheraton signature bedding, breakfast for two at the Clipper Diner and valet parking. This special rate is valid on stays through Oct. 16.
In-room wireless Internet comes at an additional charge, but this property features The Link, a 24-hour complimentary Internet area.
The hotel is near to Las Olas Boulevard with shops, restaurants, theaters and museums (http://www.lasolasboulevard.com).

Sale fares listed here are subject to change. Every seat on every flight is not offered at the deepest rate. Since only a limited supply of seats is available, act quickly to make your purchase. I recommend starting the search for available seats at Kayak.com vs. calling an airline directly. You can also search for the sale at travel Web sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, etc. Airlines can discontinue or pull a sale price without notice when the offer is deemed "sold out," or when that rate does not have a "ticket-by" date.
