Fly to the Allegheny mountain region for $178 round-trip

Slip away from the city heat and storms and head north to Greenbrier Valley, West Virginia, in the foothills of the Allegheny mountains.

Delta Air Lines has begun to operate a daily nonstop flight between Atlanta and the Greenbrier Valley Airport. The 90-minute flight (operated with CRJ-200, a 50-seat regional jet) will operate year round.

An introductory round-trip rate of $178 is valid on trips finished on or before November 16. To qualify for this low rate, book trips at least 21 or more days in advance. Depart Sunday-Wednesday and return Tuesday-Friday. The round-trip rate on other days starts from $238. Travelers must stay at least any three nights and no longer than one month. The total ticket price, inclusive of all taxes and fees, is $187.50.

This new nonstop route now opens up the opportunity to visit The Greenbrier, a Mobil Four Star and a AAA Five Diamond award-winning luxury resort in the town of White Sulphur Springs. This fine property has been welcoming guests and notables since 1778. Indeed, 26 presidents have been guests at the Presidents' Cottage Museum.

This National Historic Landmark, also known as America's Resort, is situated on 6,500-acres of lush landscape and features a new entertainment complex, several fine restaurants, lounges, upscale boutiques and a luxurious 40,000 square-foot Spa. An elegant casino is slated to open in July.

One unique feature of the resort is The Bunker, a massive top-secret underground facility that was built in 1958 to serve as an emergency shelter for the United States Congress during the Cold War. Bunker Tours are open to hotel guests and the general public. The 90-minute tour is not suitable for children under age 10. Adult tickets are $30; $15 for ages 10-18.
