Atlanta travelers have become accustomed to $49, $59 and $69 rates to favorite spots east of the Mississippi, but a deal of $59 to Los Angeles? Never before today!

United Airlines has sprung a deal for today-only to LA at a one-way rate of $59 ($78.90 including all fees, taxes) that is valid on trips finished on or before Aug. 18, 2012.

There are several blackout dates to avoid: Nov. 27, 28; Dec. 23; Jan. 2; Feb. 16, 17, 20; March 8-12, 15-19, 22-26; March 29-April 2 and April 5-7, 9, 13, 15.

To qualify, give at least a two-week advance purchase notice.

This super low rate is valid seven days a week, based on sale seat availability.

United serves Los Angeles via one flight connection in Houston.

Keep in mind that this deal has no ticket-by date. The offer could vanish at anytime. Act fast.

Sale airfares are always subject to change. Every seat on every flight is not offered at the lowest rate.

I recommend starting the search for available seats at Kayak.com vs. calling an airline directly. You can also search for the sale at travel Web sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, etc.

Airlines can discontinue or pull a sale price without notice when the offer does not have a "ticket-by" date or when the offer is deemed "sold out."
