Couple reclaims Druid Hills villa

Inside the Druid Hills home of designer Bill Musso and his partner, Bryan Cooke.

This 600-pound chandelier was a bear to install in the living room. The architect added engineered beams to support it.

The exterior of the Druid Hills home. The builder, J.L. Turner, and his engineer and architect made a trip to the Mediterranean to study dwellings. Turner, who once lived in the home, dubbed it "the Villa Mira Flores."

An intricate tiled floor makes the bathroom seem opulent. The figures above the bathtub, called caryatids, were a gift from a client. They used to hang in the old Rich's department store in downtown Atlanta, according to Musso.

The tiles in the master bath are made of marble and travertine.

The knob on the master bath sink basin comes from Knob Appeal, a side business owned by Musso and partner Jenni Ling. They design and manufacture specialty knobs for doors and cabinets.

A fireplace is hidden behind the headboard in the master bedroom. There are four fireplaces in the home, but none are used.

The main guest room upstairs, done in cream and gold, is nicknamed "The Queen Room," because the couple's mothers stay there when they visit.

Twin beds are pulled together by the mantle and artwork in this guest bedroom.

The dining room features a day bed, floor-to-ceiling windows and rich colors.

Bryan Cooke enjoys playing the piano in the atrium/living room.

This demilune cabinet, sporting hardware from Knob Appeal, creates a small focal point in the hallway.

The butler's pantry features "Emperor" hardware.

Musso (left) and Cooke stand in the archway that leads visitors to the pool area. Cooke planted fig ivy to soften the walls in the backyard. It's also his favorite room.

Bill Musso Designs specializes in residential design, including kitchen and bath renovation. His five-person firm works out of his pool house/office.

A dining area on the patio is dotted with sculptures. Cooke planted a variety of low maintenance plants that have done well despite the drought.

Rounded doors made of cypress echo the design element of the main living room. This doorway offers a view of the hallway from the master bedroom.
