Comic books, entertaining define Smyrna home

Dina and Tor Gundersen's Smyrna home looks traditional -- until you walk downstairs to the entertainment, comic book rooms.

The basement is the primary entertainment area, with multiple recliners, a projection screen TV, and a small kitchen with a bar.

This is the view from the leather recliners. The walls are painted grey, a good shade for viewing the projection TV.

The bar sits four comfortably and hides a beverage cooler and small refrigerator.

A mini pool table can be set up in the bar area.

Tor shows off his comic book collecting room, which is also in the basement.

A wall of "Star Wars" figurines and shelves of collectibles are proof of Tor's passion. "I'm just happy it's all in one place," says Dina.

Storage and organization are key to keeping 30,000 comic books neatly in one place. "It's like stepping on the surface of the sun," says Tor of the room's bright color.

A Thor hammer, made famous in Norse mythology, hangs over the door in the comic book room.

Back upstairs, the color palette changes. The dining room is painted a rich green. "We like color. We're artsy-fartsy people," says Dina.

Dina Gundersen likes to display her framed photos on shelves, making swapping them out an easy task.

The kitchen is large enough to make entertaining a breeze.
