Airport lines moving as travelers scurry home

Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport keeps security lines moving on the Friday before Christmas 2007.

Even the Yangchuanosaurus from the Fernbank Museum of Natural History display in the airport atrium got into the holiday spirit with a Santa hat.

Security lines swelled at Hartsfield-Jackson early Friday morning but evened out as the day progressed.

The patchy drizzle across metro Atlanta was causing no significant flight delays at Hartsfield-Jackson. The Federal Aviation Administration reported some weather-related backups across the country Friday morning.

Rose Marie Jones of Stone Mountain has a set of Santa hats she wears from Thanksgiving through Christmas to celebrate the season. She also has nine Christmas trees waiting at home for her 24-year-old son, who is arriving from New York where he is an investment banker.

Dwayne McLallen of Columbus, Ga., waits in a long line in the atrium. He was on his way to Houston to see his daughter.
