Hyosub Shin was born and raised in South Korea. Inspired by the work of National Geographic photographers, he came to the United States to study photography and joined the AJC photo staff in 2007. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York with a BS degree in Advertising Photography and Ohio University with a MA degree in Photojournalism. He also served his military service as a military photographer for nearly 3 years in South Korea before he decided to come to the United States to study photography. Photos by Hyosub Shin
