Government reporter/coach
Brian Eason covers local government agencies across metro Atlanta for the AJC. A policy nerd at heart, Brian is drawn to stories that explain how our government works – and why it often doesn’t.
A Dallas native, Brian moved to Atlanta in 2018 from Colorado, where he covered the state budget, taxes and pensions for The Denver Post. Prior to that, he covered local government for The Indianapolis Star and The Clarion-Ledger. Brian studied journalism and political science at the University of Missouri, then returned to school a decade later to complete his master’s in public policy at Georgia State University. At GSU, he studied housing and urban planning, while conducting public finance research as a fellow for the Center for State and Local Finance. When he's not geeking out on tax policy, he's probably geeking out on science fiction, video games or the Dallas Mavericks.
