The Kennesaw State Owls had their first day of training camp ahead of the 2017 football season on Thursday.

Over the next two weeks, the Owls will prepare for the program’s third season in the Big South Conference after being voted the co-favorite with Charleston Southern to win the Big South Conference in 2017.

“It was a great feeling to get back on the field with my teammates today,” linebacker Anthony Gore, Jr. said in a statement on Thursday. “We wanted to come prepared today and have a good mindset. The mentality is to be aggressive. Be aggressive in every drill and push each other to be better as we are getting close to our first game at Samford.”

The Owls practice again on Friday without pads before practicing in shells on Saturday.

Kennesaw State opens the season at Samford on Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. and open at home against Tennessee Tech on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m.
