Tom Brady denies Madden Curse, breaks mirror in Madden 18 cover announcement
Many New England Patriots’ fans around the country rejoiced, then immediately cowered at the news that quarterback Tom Brady will be on the cover of Madden 18.
In the announcement video on Brady’s Facebook page, the Super Bowl 51 MVP announced he doesn’t believe in the Madden Curse, then broke a mirror with a hammer and walked under a ladder.
Brady will appear on the Madden cover one year after Patriots’ tight end Rob Gronkowski appeared on the cover.
Over the years, it's been rumored that gracing the cover of Madden leads way to the "Madden Curse." Based on the past performances of players after they appear on the cover of Madden, some NFL fans fear if a player from their team is on the cover, they're doomed in the next season.
Brady, 39, threw 466 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception— a pick-six by Atlanta Falcons’ cornerback Robert Alford— in February’s Super Bowl win over the Falcons.
Brady will be the oldest player to ever be on the cover of Madden.
