Report: Giants fire coach Ben McAdoo, GM Jerry Reese

The New York Giants have fired coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese, multiple sources reported Monday.
NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala reported defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will take over as head coach and Kevin Abrams will serve as general manager for the time being.
After two seasons as head coach and a 13-15 overall record, McAdoo became the first Giants coach in 41 years to be fired mid-season. McAdoo’s departure was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Reese servedas Gaints general manager for 11 seasons before being fired on Monday. Reese’s firing was first reported by Kinkhabwala.

Before any of the Gaints firings were announced, NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones reported that multiple firings were expected.

The news of McAdoo’s firing comes after the team decided to bench starting quarterback Eli Manning and start Geno Smith for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders.
The Giants (2-10) lost to the Raiders, 24-17.
