One day after Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team might be interested in signing free agent Colin Kaepernick, the Ravens signed a different quarterback.

The Ravens announced on Friday morning the team signed former Clemson quarterback David Olson. Olson is expected to play behind Ryan Mallett and Dustin Vaughan while starting quarterback Joe Flacco misses three to six week with a back injury.

Kaepernick played six seasons for the 49ers before reportedly opting out of his contract in March. With San Francisco, Kaepernick started 58 of 69 games, threw 12,271 yards, 72 touchdowns and led the 49ers to the playoffs in 2012 and a Super Bowl appearance in 2013.

At Clemson, Olson completed one of three passes for 15 yards.

Harbaugh told media he has known Kaepernick for “a few years” through his brother and former San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and that Kaepernick does belong on an NFL roster.
