Phil Niekro, a Hall of Fame knuckleball pitcher, spent 21 of his 24 years in the majors with the Braves, pitching in a franchise record 740 games for Milwaukee and Atlanta.

Phil Niekro began pitching for the Milwaukee Braves in 1964 and he stayed with the team though 1983. Over a 23-year career, Niekro had 3,342 strikeouts and earned five Gold Gloves.

Baseball Hall of Famer Phil Niekro finished his 318-win career with the Braves in 1987 - at age 48.

Hall of Famer Phil Niekro thanks Braves' players, coaches and alumni for taking part in festivities for active-duty soldiers home on leave for the holidays, wounded soldiers, soldiers who recently returned home from deployment and soon-to-be deployed troops.
