Notre Dame transfer not coming to Tech

Jan 9, 2014

Notre Dame football transfer Lo Wood will not be enrolling at Georgia Tech, Wood’s father said.

Lo Wood Sr. said Thursday that "it's not a best fit for them," referring to Tech. Wood, a cornerback from Apopka, Fla., is seeking to transfer largely for a chance to start. Tech loses starting cornerbacks Louis Young and Jemea Thomas to graduation and had recruited Wood out of high school. In December, Wood's father had called Tech and said that the Yellow Jackets were his top choice.

Wood graduated in December from Notre Dame and will have immediate eligibility wherever he enrolls. Wood played in 21 games as a freshman and sophomore, but suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in the 2012 preseason as a junior. Younger teammates passed him on the depth chart, creating a situation in which it would be difficult for him to start as a senior in 2014.
