As far as stolen cars go this one should be pretty easy to recognize. It is Travis Kvapil’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race car bearing a big #44 in various places along with a lot of other distinctive markings.

The car, along with the trailer housing it and the pickup pulling it, were stolen from outside a Morrow hotel Thursday morning where it was parked in advance of this weekend’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton.

Morrow police told ESPN.com that surveillance video shows the rig was taken about 5:30 a.m., possibly by someone who did not know the car was inside.

Kvapil, @TravisKvapil, concurred via twitter “I bet when whoever has it, opens the trailer and is going to be like ‘oh snap’ — ”

Kvapil said the rig is a black 2004 Ford F-350 pulling a white trailer. Both had New Jersey tags.

ESPN.com said he estimated the overall value of all vehicles — including the $250,000 race car, engine, parts, etc. — was between $350,000 and $400,000.

A spokesman said the No. 44 team has withdrawn from this weekend’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Naturally, he would appreciate any help in locating and returning his property, tweeting: “Wow. Anyone near Atlanta find my stolen Cup car let me know! Unreal”
