Major League Baseball announced rule changes Monday for the 2018 season which will work to shorten games.

MLB’s Competition and Playing Rules Committees recommended that Commissioner Rob Manfred implement rules that limit the number of mound visits to six per nine innings, encourage less time during inning breaks and pitching changes and quicken replay review by having slow motion camera angles available in all club video review rooms.

Umpires will be responsible for watching the new limits on pitching changes, inning breaks and mound visits. Players who consistently or intentionally break the new time limits will be disciplined.

The MLB announced Manfred will also defer the use of a pitch timer and a timer between batters in 2018 in order to allow players the ability to speed up the game on their own.

The details of each new rule can be read on Major League Baseball's official website.
