KNIGHTS 4,
G-BRAVES 3
How the winning runs scored: Drew Garcia scored an unearned run on Luis Durango's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, staking Charlotte to a 4-0 lead. The Knights spoiled the Triple-A debut of left-handed prospect Sean Gilmartin, whose throwing error set up the fourth and deciding run.
At the plate: DH Stefan Gartrell hit a two-run homer in the eighth to break up a Charlotte shutout. Brian Friday hit a two-out homer in the ninth.
On the mound: Gilmartin, the Braves' first pick of last year's draft, endured a two-run first inning and settled down until the Knights' two-run fifth. Just promoted from Double-A Mississippi, he worked seven innings, gave up five hits and three earned runs, walking three and striking out four.
Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves conclude a four-game series at Charlotte with a 12:15 matinee. Right-hander Randall Delgato (1-1, 5.91) starts for Gwinnett.
