Kennesaw State opens a three-game weekend series in Nashville at 5 p.m. Friday and sophomore Ronnie Freeman will attempt to extend a school-record hit streak of 42 games. Freeman singled in a 9-6 loss to No. 2-ranked Vanderbilt on Wednesday night to stretch his streak to the 5th longest in NCAA Division I history.

“There have been a lot of great players that have come through our program and Ronnie is without question is one of them,” KSU coach Mike Sansing said. “To surpass such a milestone so early in his career is unbelievable.”

Kennesaw State is the only program in the history of the NCAA, Divisions I, II or III to boast two players with hitting streaks of longer than 40 games. Jason Jones, a KSU Division II All-American, held the previous school record.
