The defending Class AAAAA-champion Parkview Panthers, ranked No. 4 in AAAAAA, bounced back from a loss on Tuesday to rival Brookwood with a 5-3 victory over Archer on Wednesday as Christian Vann struck out eight over six innings. Micah Finley was perfect at the plate with four hits and three RBIs. No. 10 Brookwood, meanwhile, could not build off its upset of Parkview by falling to Dacula 5-2. Dylan Brown was clutch on the mound for Dacula, striking out six for the Falcons. Chance Keefer recorded the save for Dacula while also providing three hits at the plate.

More baseball: AAA No. 2 Buford took advantage of six No. 3 North Hall errors to exact a small measure of revenge over the Trojans, who defeated Buford 4-1 on Monday. Jake Higginbotham earned the win in relief with seven strikeouts in three innings of work. … McEachern slipped past Harrison 4-3 as the Indians scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a Harrison fielding error. Trey Harris had a two-run triple to tie the game before Jared Walker scored the winning run on an error by the Hoyas third baseman.

Soccer: AAAAAA No. 1 Lassiter came up big with shutout wins over Etowah and Wheeler in the past week. On Friday, the Trojans (12-0) dispatched Wheeler 5-0. Lassiter jumped to a 3-0 halftime lead and cruised to the Region 5 victory, which saw two goals each by freshman sensation Munear Abousaud and senior Alex Champion. Senior midfielder Robby Cutchin also found the back of the net. Following the win over Wheeler (3-5-1), Lassiter beat another Region 5 opponent, this time Etowah (8-4). Champion again struck twice while Cutchin completed the scoring for Lassiter. … No. 2 Centennial has not given up a goal since March 5 in a 4-1 win at Alpharetta and has not lost a match since March 1. The last team to beat the Knights (11-2) was, ironically, No. 4 Lambert (10-2), which Centennial edged 1-0 on Tuesday. With three minutes remaining in the match, Knights junior midfielder Diego Torres was fouled in the penalty area, giving Centennial a penalty kick. Senior defender Cameron Bean calmly converted to give the Knights the game's only goal. On Friday, Centennial dispatched Region 6-rival Chattahoochee (2-11) 3-0. In the win over Cherokee (1-9), senior Tim del Risco scored the opening goal before senior Sommy Khalaj gave the Raiders their second goal. Junior Davis Carbo also scored as Walton led 3-0 at the half.

Lacrosse: AAAAAA No. 2 Centennial scored a 22-1 win over South Forsyth on Tuesday, after taking out No. 6 Lambert on Saturday. The Knights are undefeated on the season with victories over ranked foes No. 8 Johns Creek, No. 9 Roswell and the two-time defending A-AAAA champion Longhorns. … A-AAAAA No. 10 Whitefield Academy jumped on Northgate early and never let up in a 13-1 victory. Dallas Darling scored five goals to lead Whitefield Academy, and Preston Blair added three.

Tennis: The Walton girls tennis team is 10-0 after downing Roswell 4-1 on March 21, the same team that snapped the Raiders' streak last year. The victory gave Walton a perfect 7-0 mark in Region 5-AAAAAA play with the region tournament set to begin Friday. Suzanne Zenoni (No. 1 singles) and senior Melissa Mashburn (No. 2 singles) have led the Raiders. … The Westminster girls defeated Lovett and Greater Atlanta Christian last week.

Track and field: The Woodstock girls track and field squad blasted past the field at the Etowah Invitational, finishing with 104 points. Maya Ramsey scored victories in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, and Arielle Hunter won the 400-meter dash. … Parkview hosted the 13th annual Whitley Freshmen Showcase on March 21. The Panthers managed to hold off Archer to take the girls title, while Stephenson beat out Mill Creek and Parkview in the boys competition. Jessica Moody won the girls 200- and 400-meter dashes, and teammate Rachel Hurst won the 800-meter run. Haley Blanchard scored a win for Parkview in the 3,200-meter run.
