Southwest DeKalb's girls team is dominating the DeKalb County offensive statistics for the second consecutive season.
Sophomore Kristen Peagler leads the county with 32 goals and has five assists while senior Jerre Robinson has 31 goals and 11 assists.
Last season, Southwest DeKalb had the county's leading scorer in Khadijah Jannah, who scored 41 goals and now plays for Alabama-Huntsville. Robinson was fourth in the county in 2010 with 20 goals and led DeKalb with 15 assists.
"Jerre is a dynamic defender who was turned into a striker to help provide balance up front," Southwest DeKalb coach George Smith said. "She is a hard worker, extremely coachable and will do anything that benefits the team. Kristen is filled with an unlimited amount of energy and enthusiasm for the game and is filling a role offensively."
Smith said Robinson, Peagler and senior Kendra Harris are "the heart and pulse of the Southwest DeKalb soccer team," which entered the week 9-3 and within reach of the school record of 12 victories.
“Kendra Harris has sacrificed her offensive stats to provide leadership in defense and usually is the one that starts the counterattacks that have led to the numbers that Jerre and Kristen have been putting up,” Smith said.
