Redan baseball coach Marvin Pruitt got his 500th victory last week in a 14-0 victory against Banneker. Pruitt’s record is 501-329-6. Pruitt, who is retiring after this season, led Redan to the Class AAAAA championship last season. His first head-coaching job came in 1983, when he led Lakeside-DeKalb to the state semifinals.

Wesleyan defeated No. 1-ranked Lovett 12-10 last week after trailing 9-1 in the sixth inning. Grant Colton hit two home runs in Wesleyan’s eight-run sixth inning. … Westminster, ranked No. 2, might be the new No. 1 in AA. The Wildcats are led by twins Jake Johnson (.415, 12 stolen bases) and Luke Johnson (.417 as hitter, 2-1, 0.58 ERA as pitcher). Jake committed to Notre Dame, Luke to Butler. Connor Stutts (.390) also committed to Notre Dame. Duke-bound junior Hunter Davis is 5-0 with a 2.00 ERA. … Blessed Trinity has won nine consecutive games. Boys: Atlanta International School, Class A's top-ranked team, improved to 10-1-1 with a victory against region-rival Paideia on Thursday. Junior Tomas Perez leads AIS with 16 goals, and seniors Nick Padula and Bosho Sale have scored nine and seven goals, respectively.
Girls: Peachtree Ridge remained alone in first place in 7-AAAAAA with a 3-1 victory against North Gwinnett on Thursday. Amanda Ferry scored twice, and Allie Hoxie added a goal for the Lions (11-1, 5-0), who have won 10 consecutive games since a 2-0 loss to No. 3 Parkview on Feb. 25. … Six Gwinnett County teams rank among the top eight in AAAAAA in the most recent coaches' rankings. Top-ranked Grayson leads the way, followed by No. 3 Parkview, No. 4 Brookwood, No. 5 Peachtree Ridge, No. 6 Duluth and No. 8 Collins Hill. A Gwinnett County team has won or shared the championship in the highest classification in seven of the past nine seasons.

Boys: Shiloh junior Jeremy McDuffie set Gwinnett County records in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles to lead the Generals to the Gwinnett County championship. McDuffie's time of 14.14 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles is the best in Georgia, while his winning 300-meter hurdle time of 38.30 ranks fourth. … Shiloh senior Grant Swinton set a Gwinnett County record in the 200 meters with a winning time of 21.62. … Josh Ingalls, a senior at Brookwood, ran the state's fastest time in the 800 meters (1:53.16) to set a Gwinnett County record. … Archer senior Travis Collins set a Gwinnett County record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.64. … Grayson's 400-meter relay team set a Gwinnett County record with a time of 41.43. … Freshman Rashaad Pollard of Westlake won the 100 and 200 meters at the Fulton County Championships to lead Westlake to the team title. Pollard's 100 time of 10.58 seconds is tied for second in Georgia, and his 200 time of 21.52 is tops in the state. … Junior Chuck McConville won the shot put (49 feet, 5 1/4 inches) and the discus (144 feet) to lead Union Grove to the Henry County championship.
Girls: Brookwood freshman Mackenzie Ellison won the 800 meters in 2:19.40 to lead the Broncos to the team title at the Gwinnett County Championships. … Archer's 400-meter relay team set a stadium record at Mill Creek, host site of the Gwinnett County Championships, with a time of 46.53. … The Westlake junior Kayla Stinson won the 100- and 300- meter hurdles in times of 15.16 and 44.22, respectively, to lead the Lions to a sweep of the Fulton County Championships. … Freshman Courtney Jones of Maynard Jackson ran a personal best time of 14.73 to win the 100-meter hurdles at the Atlanta Track Classic. … Senior Nyla Woods of Grady, a St. John's signee, won the shot put at the Atlanta Track Classic with a throw of 40-9 1/2. … Luella's 400-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams took first to lead the Lions to the Henry County championship. Luella won in times of 48.77 and 4:01.56, respectively.
Lacrosse
Boys: Peachtree Ridge, ranked No. 8 in AAAAAA, defeated Riverwood 17-3 and improved to 7-2 and 5-0 in 4-AAAAAA. The team was led by Steven Lee's four goals and five assists. Michael Pinkstaff, Rob Peterson and Ben Briggette had three goals apiece. … AAAAAA's No. 6-ranked Centennial is 8-2 (7-0 in Region 3) after a 15-11 victory against Chattahoochee. Nathan Solomon had five goals and three assists, and Ryan Carvin had five goals and two assists. … Westminster (10-0, 5-0 in Region 2), ranked No. 2 in AAAAA-A, defeated Decatur 16-7 in a rematch of last season's state semifinal. Midfielder Harrison Fiveash had three goals and three assists, and attackers Jack Patton and Trip Wray each scored four goals.
Girls: Milton defeated the No. 2-ranked team in Florida, Ponte Vedra, 16-8. It then beat Woodstock 20-4. Leaders for the week were Emily Velez (seven goals, two assists), Brooke Winsness (6,2) and Jessi Masinko (6, 3). Milton is in a stretch of playing eight consecutive out-of-state ranked opponents. … Blessed Trinity, ranked No. 7, improved to 7-4 (3-2 in Region 3) after a 19-14 victory against McIntosh and a 12-11 loss to No. 8 St. Pius. Leaders included Mary Markwordt (seven goals, two assists) and Payton Fadem (4, 5).
Golf
Boys: They went three extra holes, but no one could break the tie at the DeKalb County Golf Championships at the Sugar Creek Golf Course. That left Dunwoody and Arabia Mountain tied at 316 and co-champions. Dunwoody, which won the county title for five consecutive years, was led by freshman Will Bentson with a 77 and senior Raul Oviedo with a 78. Corey Sullivan shot 71, and Lain Barclay added an 82 for the Wildcats. Arabia Mountain was led by senior Darius Davis, who shot 74 to finish second overall. Freshmen Noah Kuranga and Nylan Washington had a 76 and 78, respectively, and senior Miles Bizzle rounded out the team scoring with a 90. Cameron Wyatt, a sophomore from M.L. King, shot even-par 71 to earn medalist honors. Lakeside was third at 367, and Druid Hills placed fourth at 402. Chamblee's Jonathon Moore finished third with a 75.
Girls: Dunwoody broke Lakeside's two-year reign as DeKalb County champion by prevailing at Sugar Creek. The Wildcats shot a 223 to finish first, as Lauren Callahan shot 105 and Olivia Vergura shot 118. Callahan was fourth and Vergura was sixth among individuals. Mariah Kuranga of Arabia Mountain became a three-time county champion by shooting 83. Her sister, Sarah, was also a three-time winner. Kayla McClendon of Chamblee was runner-up for the second consecutive year. Sabontu Ahmado of Redan finished in third. … Cambridge's Rachel Dai had a hole-in-one at Atlanta National during a match against Alpharetta. She aced at No. 2 and shot 37. Sabrina Long led Cambridge with a 3-under 33.
Tennis
Boys: Brookwood remained undefeated by handing Johns Creek its second loss of the season. The Broncos prevailed with a 4-1 victory in Snellville. The Broncos swept the three singles matches behind Brandon Miles, Will George and Zach Jennings. The No. 1 doubles team of David Brown and Will McWhirt also won. … Hebron Christian improved to 10-1 after a 5-0 sweep of Dacula. Bryce Coleman won at No. 1 singles for the Lions.
Girls: Gainesville handed Buford its first loss of the season, as the Red Elephants scored a 3-2 victory. Katherine Wright and Brinkley Frankum won singles for Gainesville, which also got a victory from the No. 1 doubles team of Morgan Mercer and Suzanne Smith. … Hebron Christian improved to 10-2 with a 4-1 victory against Dacula. Darby Duval led the way at No. 1 singles.
