Longtime East Coweta coach Danny Cronic, who stepped down in 2007 after 18 seasons during which he never had a losing record at the school, has come out of retirement to become the head coach at Newnan's Heritage School, a member of the Georgia Independent School Association.

Cronic has a career record of 218-108-1, including 148-60 at East Coweta. He was the head coach at Cherokee from 1974 to 1977, followed by four seasons at LaGrange and three seasons at Forsyth Central.

"It will be a different experience for me, a different challenge, but I'm looking forward to it and working with the people at Heritage," he told Tommy Camp for this story in the Newnan Times-Herald.

Cronic's 1983 LaGrange team went 14-1, losing to Tift County in the Class AAAA championship game.

Heritage School has been playing varsity football for four seasons, going 6-5 each of the past two years under head coach Larry Harrison.
