Collins Hill High will go for its fourth straight state championship at this weekend's GHSA Team Dual Wrestling tournament in Macon.

Collins Hill has a 21-0 record in dual meets, winning tournaments such as the Midwest Classic in Kansas City, Mo., the Cleveland (Tenn.) Invitational and the Alexander Duals in Douglasville.

"I feel good about our chances," said Collins Hill first-year coach Josh Stephen. "I think we're wrestling well. We had a tough month of December with [traveling to tournaments over the holidays] and the kids responded well."

Collins Hill has three wrestlers who won individual state championships in previous years: Drew Ferguson (112 pounds), Bazell Partridge (125 pounds) and Mac Bennett (189 pounds). Freshman Sean Russell has also been turning heads at 103 pounds.

"We're getting back to being healthy, so I feel real good about this weekend," Stephen said. "If we do what we're capable of doing, then we shouldn't have any trouble, although Camden County is a real solid and balanced team. I'm sure we'll have to deal with them in Macon."

North Gwinnett, Parkview, Kennesaw Mountain and Valdosta are also top contenders for the Class AAAAA championship. Pope is a favorite in Class AAAA.

Basketball

Milton (12-2) is playing its best basketball after some early struggles and will make another appearance on ESPNU with Saturday's 8 p.m. matchup against Oak Hill (Va.). The game will be played in Springfield, Mass., with a 30-second shot clock. That's a first for Milton's David Boyd in his 27 years of coaching.

"One thing that will help us is that we're real careful about trying to get the last shot in each quarter of every game we play, so we are familiar with being aware of the time during parts of the game," Boyd said. "I think where we may really struggle is if the game is close near the end. We'll have to execute plays within 30 seconds rather than just holding the ball."

Misc.

The Georgia High School Association does not plan on making any "blanket rule changes" with scheduling -- at least not yet -- due to the postponement of this week's games because of inclement weather. Ralph Swearngin, executive director of the GHSA, said he will address any school's predicament "on a case-by-case basis." ... There's more good news for former West Forsyth football player Trey Rood, who was diagnosed with life-threatening cancer (Stage IV metastatic melanoma) in June 2009. All of Rood's tumors in his chest area have shown to be stable or shrinking, while some have disappeared. Rood also had an MRI on his brain which was clear. "Overall, he got an A+ from his doctor," said Rood's mother. Kingdom Kids granted Rood a "wish" by providing tickets to the SEC Championship game. Rood is a freshman at Georgia and returns to classes this week.
