Grayson, Milton, Pace Academy and Carver-Columbus defended their No. 1 rankings with victories over top-10 teams last week, but McIntosh County Academy - facing No. 2 Savannah in a Class A Division II showdown - did not.

Savannah moved to No. 1 after a 56-46 victory over MCA behind Maki Joyner’s 17 points on Tuesday. MCA beat Savannah by one point earlier this month. The coastal Georgia rivals are seeded to meet again Friday night in the Region 2-A Division II tournament championship game.

In Class 6A, Grayson beat No. 4 Newton 58-46 to finish the regular season unbeaten against Georgia opponents. Grayson’s Caleb Holt, the state’s No. 1 junior college prospect, scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds.

Milton of Class 5A beat No. 5 Gainesville 51-48, getting the lead for good with 4:11 left in a back-and-forth game.

Also in 5A, Woodward Academy avenged a loss to Tri-Cities, winning 81-63, and moved up one spot to No. 2. Zac Foster, a Clemson signee, had 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Pace Academy of Class 4A beat No. 5 Maynard Jackson 77-67. Chandler Bing scored 30 points. Eric Chatfield scored 23. Pace has lost only once against in-state teams, to Class 6A’s McEachern.

In Class 3A, Carver-Columbus beat No. 10 Sumter County 73-60. Carver has won 14 straight games.
