Brookwood canceled its football game with Walton on Thursday, citing six members of the varsity and JV teams who have tested positive for COVID.

The cancellation marks the first game called off this season between two teams playing in Class 7A, the classification for the state’s largest schools.

Walton is free to find another opponent Friday or Saturday, although the chances are not high this late in the week.

The Brookwood-Walton game is the 27th scheduled for this week called off because of COVID protocols.
