Redan, Wesleyan and Vidalia took deciding Game 3 victories in baseball semifinal series Tuesday, completing the field for the eight state finals that begin Thursday around the state.

Redan, a Class 3A school, defeated Pierce County 6-1 behind the pitching of Daniel Ortiz. Bernard Moon homered.

Redan will play Pike County in a three-game series beginning Monday at Coolray Field, home of the Gwinnett Stripers. Redan is the first DeKalb County public school to reach a state final since the Raiders won the title in 2013 against Marist.

Wesleyan knocked out defending Class A Private champion Mount Paran Christian with a 7-6 victory. Cooper Blauser hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning. Wesleyan’s championship series will begin Tuesday against North Cobb Christian.

Vidalia defeated Lovett 5-4 in Class 2A after Walker Moncus, with his team trailing 4-3, hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Vidalia will play Thomasville in a series that begins Monday at Georgia Southern’s Clements Field. It will be Vidalia’s first state finals appearance since 2003.
