Tyler Queen passed for 272 yards and rushed for 90, and J'Vonte Herrod rushed for 183 yards on 26 carries, but it was Torrance McGee's 95-yard kickoff return that gave North Cobb the lead for good, 21-19, with 8:17 left. McGee, the starting quarterback for Carver of Columbus last season, also caught a 26-yard TD pass from Queen in the first quarter. North Cobb had three first-half turnovers and led only 7-6 at halftime despite leading in total yardage 266-99. Two-way starter Latrell Gibbs had six catches for 95 yards.

Last week: Beat South Effingham 42-26. Wayne County trailed 26-14 entering the fourth quarter, and Anfernee Jordan's 1-yard run with 2:41 left was the winning score. Wayne later made a stop on fourth-and-inches at the South Effingham 24-yard line. Wayne QB Malique Jackson (8-for-15, 191 yards) scored two touchdowns and threw a 67-yard TD pass to Cody Washington, his only catch of the game.

Hill also had an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and 203 all-purpose yards. Swainsboro's Robert Thomas rushed for 200 yards and scored on an 83-yard run.

Last week: Beat Cedar Grove 39-12. St. Pius led 32-0 at halftime against a team that entered ranked No. 9. Dalton Wilson rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns. St. Pius had 254 yards rushing. LB Daniel Crochet had three tackles for losses, and DB Nicholas Ruffin returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown.

Last week: Beat North Oconee 28-23. QB Mecole Hardman scored on a 21-yard run with 2:30 left for a 28-17 lead, and Elbert made an interception at the goal line in the final seconds to hold on. Hardman, a sophomore quarterback, rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries. Rantious Reed rushed for 104 yards on 12 carries.

Last week: Lost to Elbert County 28-23. North Oconee scored what might've been the winning touchdown on a 6-yard run by Kawon Bryant in the final minute, but it was negated by a holding penalty. North Oconee threw an interception on the next play. Bryant rushed for 142 yards and one touchdown.

Last week: Beat Putnam County 55-13. Lamar County held Putnam County to four first downs and led 38-0 at halftime. Sophomore FB Juan Tucker rushed for 91 yards and scored three touchdowns. RB/DB Lawrence Austin rushed for 61 yards, caught a 63-yard pass and had two tackles for losses on defense.

Last week: Beat Hapeville Charter 49-0. Lovett led 35-0 by halftime and held Hapeville to 74 yards of total offense. Jonathan Thomas had a tackle for a loss and returned an interception 59 yards for a touchdown. Seven Lovett players scored touchdowns.

Bryan County got within 34-27 with 2:29 left, but Vidalia ran out the clock.
