Greater Atlanta Christian alum Malcolm Brogdon named NBA Rookie of the Year
Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon was named NBA Rookie of the Year on Monday night’s inaugural NBA Awards.
Drafted with the No. 36 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Brogdon is the first rookie that wasn’t a first round draft pick to win Rookie of the Year since 1966.
Brogdon, a graduate of Greater Atlanta Christian School, is also the second rookie in Bucks’ history to win the honor, following in the footsteps of NBA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Brogdon earned 414 total votes, 64 first place votes from sportswriters and broadcasters. The Rookie of the Year runner-up was Philadelphia 76ers' Dario Saric who received 266 total votes and 13 first place votes. Brogdon and Saric were unanimously voted to the NBA's All-Rookie First team on Monday.
After four seasons at Virginia, Brogdon averaged 10.2 points per game, 4.2 assists per game and 2.8 rebounds per game in his first season in the NBA.
