Peyton Manning wouldn’t get caught wearing red and black. In fact, the colors make him sick.

Even if they are the traditional colors worn by Tiger Woods on Sundays.

Manning and Woods were paired against Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson in The Match: Champions for Charity televised golf fundraiser Sunday.

There was a notable SEC connection during the event with Manning, who went to Tennessee, and commentary from Charles Barkley, notedly from Auburn, and Justin Thomas, notedly from Alabama.

Manning and Barkley had the following exchange – with a not-so-veiled humorous shot at another SEC school, Georgia.

Barkley: “Hey Peyton, you can’t be taking shots at me now. We are in the SEC. It’s us against Alabama in everything we do now.”

Manning: “We got Justin Thomas out here. He’s Bama. You’re Auburn. Charles, can you believe, Tom and Phil kinda have matching outfits. They wanted to know if I wanted to wear black and red like Tiger. I’m like, ‘I’m not wearing black and red. That’s Georgia Bulldog colors. I just can’t do that. If you want me to get sick on the first hole I’ll do it. I’m not going to let Kirby Smart get a picture of me in black and red for their social media accounts.’”

Barkley: “You are a smart man, Peyton. I agree with that totally. I would never wear red any time.”

Manning: “I’m smarter than I look.”

The event raised money for COVID-19 relief charities and was played at Medalist Golf Club in Florida.
