Masters’ TV ratings up sharply from last year

April 13, 2015

Sunday’s final round of the Masters posted an 11.4 rating on metro Atlanta television, well above the national average.

By comparison, the Braves-Mets game Sunday afternoon drew a 2.4 rating in the Atlanta TV market and the Hawks-Wizards game Sunday night drew a 1.6 rating here.

The rating is the percentage of the market’s TV households tuned in on average.

Nationally, CBS Sports’ coverage of the Masters’ final round drew an 8.7 rating and an average audience of 14 million viewers.

The national numbers were up 26 percent from last year’s disappointing final-round figures of a 6.9 rating and 11.1 million viewers on average.

The peak audience for this year’s Masters was 17.7 million viewers from 6:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday.

Of the nation’s 56 largest TV markets, the highest rating for the final round Sunday was posted in Fort Myers, Fla., at 15.1.
