Former Georgia Tech star Moses Wright is making his bid for a roster spot with the Los Angeles Clippers. The ACC player of the year may have a chance at the 15th and final roster spot for the Clippers, with whom he signed an Exhibit 10 training-camp deal in September.

In three preseason games, Wright is averaging 5.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and .7 assists in 11.9 minutes of play while shooting 53.8% from the field. The Clippers play their final tune-up game Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves (with former Tech guard Josh Okogie).

Wright made an eye-catching play in his preseason debut, when he spun on Bol Bol of the Denver Nuggets and threw down a vicious dunk. Wright played 17 minutes with eight points and two rebounds in that game.

The competition for the 15th spot is considered to be between Isaiah Hartenstein and Harry Giles, the former Duke star. Wright’s play may insert him into consideration. If not, a spot with the Clippers’ G League team is a possibility.

Wright’s former running mate, Jose Alvarado, has played only nine minutes in two of the New Orleans Pelicans’ three games. He contributed two points, two rebounds and one assist. Having signed a two-way deal after the NBA draft, which will enable him to play for both the Pelicans and their G League affiliate, Alvarado’s spot in the league is much more secure than Wright’s. New Orleans’ final preseason game is Monday at Utah.
