Jim McElwain is heading north. The former Florida head coach is joining Michigan’s football staff as a wide receiver coach.

“I am excited to work with this offensive staff and Coach Harbaugh,” said McElwain in a press release. “There are a lot of great offensive minds in that coaching room and I look forward to learning from them.”

McElwain was let go from Florida following the Gators’ 42-7 drubbing at the hands of Georgia Oct. 28. He finished with a 22-12 record in three seasons in Gainesville, with a pair of bowl appearances and SEC East titles.

He now joins Jim Harbaugh’s offense which has ranked 50th or worse in two of Harbaugh’s three seasons at the helm of the Wolverines.
