Worrilow moved to weakside in nickel

July 31, 2016

Paul Worrilow, who’s the incumbent starter at middle linebacker, was moved to weakside linebacker in the team’s nickel defense on Sunday.

Worrilow played along side rookie Deion Jones, the Falcons second-round pick, who’s competing for the starting middle linebacker position.

“We are just trying to create more versatility with (Worrilow),” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. “That was the real goal there knowing that Paul is also not only going to have a role at (middle), (weakside) and (special) teams, all of the things that we are doing.”

Worrilow, the team’s leading tackler over the past three seasons, was fine with the move.

“Typical Paul, he jumped right in,” Quinn said. “No job is too small. He’s always ready to help and quite honestly, that’s the attitude that we love.”
