White: ‘I’ll be a Falcon for life’

There is no truth to the rumors that Falcons wide receiver Roddy White is on the trading block.

“No!,” a high-ranking team official said when asked if White was on the trading block Sunday. “(We’ve) had no calls and most importantly he is a Falcon and an important part of this offense.”

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that White has drawn interest from three teams as the trade deadline is approaching on NFL Network’s GameDay First show Sunday.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported on Oct. 6 that teams have some interest in White.

White, 33, has just six catches for 92 yards on 13 targets this season.

The four-time Pro Bowler had a meeting with head coach Dan Quinn about his role in the offense this week after voicing some displeasure about his lack of targets in a ESPN.com report.

White caught two passes for 23 yards and had a key fourth down reception in the final minute of regulation against Washington.

The trade rumors were news to White, too.

“I haven’t heard any of that,” White said. “I’m a Falcon. I’ll be a Falcon for life. I’ve dedicated everything I’ve got to this team and this organization. I’m going to continue to do that. I’m going to continue each and every week to get better, be a better football player and try to win.”

White had two key catches and drew a pass interference call in the Falcons’ key fourth-quarter touchdown drive.

After Devonta Freeman’s apparent touchdown catch was reverse, the Falcons went to White on a key fourth-and 2 with under a minute to play.

White went in motion, came back across the field and made a nice catch for a 7-yard catch for the first down.
