Here’s what the Falcons had to say after their 42-14 win over the Rams:
Atlanta Falcons OLB Vic Beasley Jr.
(On attempting to do Tony Gonzalez’s dunk touchdown celebration)
“Well, I was going for the dunk but my legs didn’t go up as much as I wanted them to. So, that was a failure on my side, but I got into the end zone and that’s a positive thing.”
(On if he thinks players were worried he got injured after falling from the celebration)
“Yeah, I think a lot of players were thinking that. Fortunately, I was able to get up and remain healthy.”
(On what a win like this can do for the psychology of the team)
“I think we’re making strides in the right direction. Players are getting turnovers and we’re just trying to make plays out there. We’ve got a great group of guys and we just have to go out there and execute each and every week.”
(On Falcons LB Deion Jones’ interception)
“That was impressive. I just had a good rush and I turned around and saw him do a split in the air. It was just an amazing play by him. He was able to get in the end zone. I think our defense is making great strides.”
Atlanta Falcons S Ricardo Allen
(On how they can prepare for the teams that have more wins in the playoffs)
“We aren’t even worried about the playoffs right now. What we do is we take it week-by-week. We just have to worry about next week. You start looking ahead and then you start looking over people, you might not even make it. We don’t worry about that. We worry about taking it week-by-week.”
(On setting the tempo for the defense)
“It was real good. It was real good because I went to Q (Head Coach Dan Quinn) before the game, and I was like, ‘Man, I’m going to be the one to set it off this week.’ It was good to actually back up what I was saying, but we needed to start fast. We needed somebody to do it, so I went for it.”
(On if the wins will continue from here on out)
“Yes, because we know what it takes now. We just got to keep pushing. Our during the week has to keep being as sharp as it was. You know, going through practice and stuff like that, playing fast. When things go wrong, it’s bad to slow down. So like today, when things didn’t go right and we were maybe messing up or something like that, we outplayed it with effort.”
Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel
(On the other wide receivers stepping up with injuries to the receiving corps)
“I had no doubt in my mind that those guys would do what they need to do and step up. Just throughout the week, those guys grind like we do and grind like everybody else. I don’t think it was surprising the guys doing what they did. Me actually having to step up, just things that we did today, (Falcons Offensive Coordinator) Kyle Shanahan just made it easy on us and all we had to do was just execute. So, I’m very happy about this win.”
(On the long touchdown catch in the third quarter)
“We’ve been working on that all week. Coming out of half, we were thinking we were going to get the coverage and we did. (QB) Matt (Ryan) threw a great ball and all I had to do was catch the ball. That’s what a wide receiver is supposed to do. I only have to compliment from Kyle (Shanahan) to the offensive line and to the quarterback. I feel like it’s not just my play, it’s everybody’s play.”
(On the defense's great performance today) "The defense did their thing today, the turnovers and things like that. When a defense makes turnovers like that, it makes our jobs easier. I feel like if those guys keep playing like that and getting turnovers like that, the sky's the limit."
Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman
(On his two touchdowns today and how he was so successful)
“It really was the defense getting the ball back for us plenty of times and getting us back on the field. Me just getting a rhythm in there and the O-line blocking, everybody doing their job. It was a team effort.”
(On if he feels that this was the defense's best game of the season and if the offense fed off of that) "Definitely. They played their butts off and they did a great job. We came out. We were prepared. We were ready. We knew what we had to do. And we just came out there and balled out.
(On if this was the best team win of the season)
“Definitely. Everybody has an aspect. We played together. We played hard as a team and everything came right for us.”
