Here’s what Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones had to say after the 34-20 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday:
On becoming the first player in NFL history with three 250 yard games:
"My teammates did a great job. The offensive line did a great job keeping Matt [Ryan] upright and letting him deliver some shots downfield. Mohamed [Sanu] did a great job on the deep ball down the middle to me and gave me an opportunity to make a play."
On whether he felt like he would have a big game coming into today:
"It's just preparation throughout the week, you know? I'm feeling better, a couple weeks ago I had an ankle injury and it has kind of been lingering, but I'm good. I'm striking and ready to go, and it's a credit to Sark too as well. Just dialing up plays and seeing early on, just taking advantage of what they were giving us on defense."
On the touchdown pass from Mohamed Sanu:
"The thing about it is we haven't actually repped that full speed, it's just one of those things. Mo [Mohamed Sanu], he's a great quarterback and has a great deep ball so he doesn't need it. We throw a lot everyday in practice, throwing the ball around so I've seen his ball numerous times. I just knew when I came and lined up I was just trying to see what the guy outside of me was going to do. He just kind of stayed there and it was just one on one with the safety. Mo didn't care and he just gave me an opportunity to go up there and make a play."
On his dive for his second touchdown of the night:
"When I came out of the route, I caught the ball and I turned back and saw the defensive back on the ground. I'm guessing he slipped down, but like I said earlier we don't practice any bad ball security here. I would have never stuck the ball out had I seen him upright. I saw him on the ground, so I had to get in there."
On if he was getting single coverage. "Yes and a lot of quarters. We were just trying to hit the holes on quarters and go over the top."
More on the 51-yard TD. "We never repped it full speed. I knew it was in the game plan."
On the throw, would he have thrown it into triple coverage. “My guy Sanu, I sure he probably would have just to give me an opportunity… He throws a great ball.”
On the fencing celebration. "We are just trying to be creative. Just something to try to bring us together."
On his big day. "We just have to keep building. You never know who's game it's going to be. That's why I'm not a stat guy. I'm not going to get down and not go out there and play for my brothers. That's being selfish and you are not allowing your brothers to go out there and play their best ball. Those other guys on the 10 guys and I was doing my think and they decided I'm not going to do something today because I'm not getting the ball, I don't have the day I had without them. At the end of the day, I want to win. That's my main goal."
On Ward's fumble. "I told him, do go out here and try to make play. Those things right there, that play was over and done with. Just play the next play to the best of your ability."
